Idling Engines

We would like to remind all drivers that it is illegal to keep your engines running when stationary. Running your engine while your vehicle is idle has serious effects on the environment and causes twice as much pollution as compared to when your vehicle is moving. Under the Road Traffic Regulations 2002 the only times you are permitted to keep your vehicle engine idle is under the following conditions;

Waiting at traffic lights

Moving slowly through congestion

Getting a repair or defrosting a windscreen

If you fail to follow these rules please be advised you could risk a fixed penalty notice against you.
